Mini-vacation.

This is actually my Friday because I'm getting on a plane later this evening.  I can't wait to get home, see my family and friends, and have a relaxing, long weekend away from Chicago.  You know how sometimes it is just nice to get away?  This unexpected trip is just one of those times.

If you didn't read it earlier, I'm flying home to surprise my Dad for his 60th birthday.  I can't wait!  Mostly, I can't wait to see how he reacts to the surprise.  My Dad is not really a man of large reactions, in fact, he doesn't really react at all and I think it'll be funny to see if anything happens.  I don't have high expectations, which is probably a good thing.  Alanis Morissette would say it's ironic because I have HUGE reactions.  To everything.  I'm assuming that's not going to come as quite a surprise, but seriously, friends and family know to call me when they want a reaction.  No matter what, they're going to get one.  Emotional cartwheels are my thing.

This is all to say that I'll be a little MIA for the next couple of days.  I don't fly back until Monday and won't be back here until Tuesday.  It's my own personal Labor Day weekend, and then some.  Thank you, Dad!

Oh yeah, if you happen to know my Dad, please don't tell him and ruin the surprise.  I'm not actually surprising him until Friday after he returns from his business trip.  The cherry on top of this trip is that one of my oldest and dearest friends is moving to England ON MONDAY and I am unbelievably lucky to be able to spend a night or two with her before she goes.  Serendipity, my friends, is a wonderful thing. [And, let's not forget my other bestie I get to see.  Hi, Lauren!]

What do you guys have planned for this weekend?  Was your week as crazy busy as mine, trying to catch up from Monday?  [Lordy, lordy I had a week at work.  Having a three day week on boards week is a feat I don't plan on attempting again anytime soon.]  What do you get a sixty year old man that doesn't want anything?  Will you miss me as much as I miss you?

Sorry I was so chatty today and don't have anything quite tangible to post, BUT I've included another photograph from my favorite Etsy shop, elle moss photography.  Seriously, it is all so good.  I want them all.  And you should, too.
