Frugal Outfit Tuesdays: Summer is Here.

Memorial Day rings in the unofficial start of summer and I couldn't be more excited.  Granted, I'd be happier if Chicago actually held to some sort of sane weather pattern, but what's a girl to do?  Throw on a maxi dress and pretend She Don't Care!

(Shit, as I was scheduling this post I realized that Tuesday is NOT the first of June.  Oops!  I'm just going to pretend that it's the first Tuesday of the month.  Deal with it.)

Sparkles for Friday.

Happy Friday, friends!  What are you guys up to this weekend?  I'm seeing Bridesmaids tonight and can't wait, I've heard great things about it.  Personally I think it's the best way to start a three-day weekend.  If I end it with a little porch drinking, well, it would be the perfect way to end it.

Happy early Memorial Day, folks.  Be safe and be merry!

Silver-tipped Ombre Glasses.

For $58 you can feel like Don Draper.  These silver-tipped ombre glasses would be a beautiful addition to any home and, let's face it, with these puppies drinking milk would even be cool.

Snatch them up before someone else does!

DIY Dreams.

Does anyone know where this is from?  I found it on Pinterest and the blog it's from doesn't link to its original source.  I'd like the deets, if you have them!

I was immediately drawn to this cerulean dresser, especially when labeled as a tv stand.  Wouldn't that be fantastic?!  I have an old storage cube from Target where my tv currently lives and if I had the wherewithal I would paint it from boring white to this creamy blue.  But, living in an apartment without any outdoor space makes it kind of difficult to do any painting.  What an excuse, right?!  Maybe someday...

By the way, Pinterest has Taken.Over.My.Life.  I am officially obsessed and I blame all of you (well, those of you who praised the pin).  On the other hand, I do feel quite organized.  Tit for tat.

Outfit Tuesdays: Time for a Picnic.

Time for a Picnic.

Time for a Picnic. by justagirlandherstuff featuring white tops

It was so wonderfully warm this past weekend and that could make this girl sing.  Warm weather leads to picnics and picnics leads to outfits like these.

At least I like to think so.

Leather and Brass.

These leather-wrapped bangles are both classy and rock-and-roll all at the same time.  I'm partial to blue, but tan is always a stunning neutral.  Plus, other colors are to be had.  The boutique, Totokaelo, always has such wonderful pieces and I'll just add these to my wish list.

Totokaelo (TOH-toh-KYE-oh) derives from toto caelo, a Latin phrase that means “reaching to the edge of the stars.”

Reaching to the edge of the stars.  Yeah, I'll buy that.

I did it!

If you follow me on Twitter you may already know this: I've finally joined Pinterest, y'all!

I know, I know, all the cool kids have been doing it for quite some time, but I'm sometimes anti-joiner and it took me way too long to jump on board.  If we're being honest, I finally decided to take the plunge because I wanted a single place to house a plethora of hair pictures.  You see, I am considering going the red route, but I have to look at a bazillion pictures before I even feel comfortable bringing it to my Hair Lady.

Ain't no better place than Pinterest for that sort of thing.  (And if you go to my Pinterest page you will find mostly red-haired lasses populating my page.)

Are you guys pinning?  Let me know, I'd love to follow you!

Time for the Weekend.

Happy Friday, folks!  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and can find a way to frame the moon.

The Perfect Pair.

Gah.  This is perfection!  What a surprising twist on a classic outfit.  I can't decide if I like the sweater or bag best.  What do you think?

Tommy Ton knows what's what from Sydney Fashion Week.  That's for sure.

Hot Pink.

A friend of mine has a fantastic coral bag she bought from H&M and it got me thinking how much a bright cross-body bag is the best accessory for summer.  This hot pink number could just do the trick!

Also: Sorry that's Jess' video starts every time you hit the homepage.  I don't know how to change that, but I figure there are worse things to be heard.

Outfit Tuesdays: Better than the Eighties.

Better than the Eighties.

Better than the Eighties. by justagirlandherstuff featuring leather sandals

Maybe it's because I watched the Real Housewives of New Jersey last night (uhh, did any of you?! There are no words for the gong show that happened), or maybe it's because I love a good peplum.  Whatever it is, I'm rolling in this outfit today.  Pure ridiculousness and I want it.all.for.myself.  Especially the fuchsia lipstick.

Alyssa Milano would have totally rocked this outfit AND been the boss at the same time.

Annnnnd, now I'm done.

The Magpie Girl.

YOU GUYS.  I am not only seriously considering dying my hair that brilliant shade of red, but I am majorly lusting after those blue glasses.

Confession: I spent an inordinate amount of time on the internet last night searching for some fancy blue specs.  I even signed up for my first Warby Parker at home trial and am secretly, not so secretly, hoping that these bad boys rock my world.  I also have my eye on these guys (totally didn't intend that pun, but whatevs).

Frankly, I want to be The Magpie Girl, or at the very least look and dress exactly like her.  Creepy, no?  But come on, she's absolutely adorable AND lives in Ireland!  Go check out her blog to see even more adorableness.

Sooooo... what do you think?  Am I nutso for wanting to go ginger and wear turquoise/aqua glasses?  Complete Confession: I don't know if I even have the balls to go through with it, but it does make my heart go pitter patter just thinking about it.

Mid-height Dilemma.

Mid-height heels can sometimes unfortunately look dowdy, well, not so much dowdy as not sexy.  Now, I don't think you can really consider 3" inch heels as mid-height, but there is a one inch platform so we're ending up with two inches of height... mid-height.  You see what happened there?

My point is you don't want to look dowdy and I don't think that's possible with these beauties.  The low strap around the ankle is perfectly placed so as not to cut off the leg and the nude color tricks the eye into thinking the leg is longer than it actually is.  Score!

Comfort and style.  That, I can get behind.

Jess Godwin.

I went to college with this girl.  I took a singing class with this girl.  Yes, it was a living nightmare for me to ever follow her in class.

And now look at her!  She went off and got her own video and shit.  Color me impressed.

I'm so proud of her, I just had to share.  And I must say that I'm particularly partial to the shots from above while she's playing the piano.  So great, right?  Really, I love all of the shots where she's playing the piano.

Congratulations, Jess!  You're a rock star!

Go here to check out her website and get even more info about this lovely lady.

Outfit Tuesdays: Blushing for Neon.

Blushing for Neon.

Blushing for Neon. by justagirlandherstuff featuring short sleeve blouses

Delicate and earthy with a neon pop; I think blush tones are even better when juxtaposed with something bright.

And, who doesn't love swishing around in a fabulous maxi skirt?  I know this girl does!

Tuesday Mourning.

I adore these portrait drawings and prints by Tuesday Mourning.  I just might have to get my hands on the first print, titled Ellen.  She's so beautiful, but also slightly sad.  And the slight touches of blush are perfection.

Plus, you can get your own original portrait drawing if you so wish.  What a fantastic gift, no?

Calvin Klein Collection.

Can we talk about how Calvin Klein Collection is constantly knocking it out of the park?

The minute I saw a picture of Zoe Saldana from the Met Gala the other night I knew immediately who designed the dress.  And that's saying a lot for this girl who pays more attention to Target than high-end designers.  But really, the credit must all go to Francisco Costa, the head designer of womenswear at Calvin Klein.

The saturated colors and pliable, yet sturdy fabrics make me swoon.  I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Go here to see all the lovely ladies of the Met Gala 2011.

**Yes, only Zoe is from the Met Gala.  Claire and Emma are from the Golden Globes.

No Laces Needed.

These shoes rock my face off.

I'm a fan of the sexy, men-inspired trend.  Bring it.
